188 for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and Iny lords sought unto me; and I was establishçl in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, and extol, and honour, the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment; and who is able to abase those that walk in pride.” This proclamation shows that a great change had taken place in the character of Nebuchadnezzar. Before his derangement he was filled with pride and self-conceit, saying within himself, “Is not this great Babylon which I have built, &c.?” Now he submits humbly to the punishment of his sins, and praises and exalts that God, * who is able to abase those that walk in pride.” řormerly, he was an idolater, and having gathered together all the great men of his dominions, commandcd them, under penalty of death, to worship a golden image which he had caused to be formed.
