326 2ndly. Daniel was decided in his character and firm "to his purpose. There are some opersons who, though wishing to do their duty, are yet unstable and inconstant. They determine perhaps upon 鑫 course of conduct which their consciences tell them is right; but the cost is not previously counted—the difficulties they may nect with, are not thought of —the dijeet at present in view is painted in the most glowing colours, and the mind is earnestly bent upe a its attainment ; but by to-morrow it has lost a part of its attractjอื่us; some new project then engages their attention, and diverts them by its novelty. The design of yesterday is buried among the shadows of the past, and another plafi has succeeded, which wil soor in all likelihood, give place to new ones. Such persons cannot be depended upon. Like Reuben, they are “ unstable as water, and will never excel.” - But such was not Daniel. Strong 4. ‘ determination was the character of his mind.
