40 chadnezzar the Great. At this period, Daniel had been but little more than a year in Babylon. Three years were allowed the young Hebrews for becoming..thoroughly acquainted with all they were to study. At the end of that time, they were brought before the king to be examined. Nebuchadnezzar was well fitted by knowledge and penetration, to judge of the abilities of the young men. After conversing with them, and questioning thera as to. their progress in the sciences, he found that Daniel and his three friends were superior to all the rest in wisdom and learning.
