৩য় পংখ্যা ] বিবিধ প্রসঙ্গ— গৃহশিক্ষক ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পরীক্ষক 8ᏬᏄ SAAAAAA AAAA AAAA SAA AAAA SAM MMMMAMAMMA AMMAMAMMAMMMMMMMM MAMAMMMAAMMM AAAA SAAAAA MM MeM MA AM SAS SSAS SSAAAA AAAA AAAS S AMM MA AM AM MM MMMSMMA AJS রবীন্দ্রনাথের খ্যাতি গত ২২শে এপ্রিল তারিখের লণ্ডন টাইমসের শিক্ষাবিষয়ক প্রপূর্ভিতে কলিকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সম্বন্ধে একটি প্রবন্ধ আছে। তাহার শেষ তিনটি বাক্য উদ্ধৃত করিতেছি। “A pleasing feature qf the Convocation was the first presentation of the gold medal endowed by the Vice-Chancellor to be bestowed biennially upon the individual deemed by the syndicate to be the most eminent for original contribution to letters or science written in the Bengali language. The medal was awarded to Dr. Rabindranath Tagore, the most brilliant Bengali writer of our day. It is an interesting coincidence that the distinguished poet has accepted within the last few weeks the chairmanship of an organization for improving the economic outlook of the educated middle classes in Bengal.”—The Times Educational Supplement, April 22, 1922, p. 188. সম্রাটের প্রদত্ত নাইট উপাধি পরিত্যাগ করিবার পর একজন রাজভূত্যের প্রদত্ত একটি পদক অন্ত এক রাজতৃত্যের হস্ত হইতে রবীন্দ্রনাথ কেন গ্রহণ করিয়াছেন, তাহার কারণ আমরা অবগত নহি ।” কিন্তু র্তাহাকে কন্ভোকেশুনে আনিবার জন্য কেন ঝুলাখুলি হইয়াছিল, তাহা আমরা কতকটা অকুমান করিয়া মডার্ণ রিভিউতে লিথিয়াছিলাম। এখন অকুমানটা নিতান্ত ভ্রান্ত মনে হইতেছে না । বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আরো অধিকতর দামী পুরস্কার ও পদক বর্ষে বর্ষে প্রদত্ত হয়, কিন্তু তাহা দেশবিদেশে ঘোষিত হয় না ; কিন্তু বক্ষ্যমাণ পদকটি রবীন্দ্রনাথ গ্রহণ করায় বিজ্ঞাপন উত্তমরূপে হইল । ইহাতে র্তাহার গৌরব বাড়িয়াছে কি না, তাহা কাহারও বিবেচনার বিষয়ীভূত হয় নাই। কিন্তু তাহার খ্যাতি জাতীয় সম্পত্তি বলিয়া, কিসে তাহার গৌরব বাড়ে কমে, তাহ বিবেচনার যোগ্য মনে করি । টাইমস্ হইতে উদ্ধৃত শেষ বাক্যটিতে উল্লিখিত কমিটি-টি কি এবং কাহার দ্বারা নিযুক্ত, তাহা আমরা অবগত নহি ; স্বতরাং সে বিষয়ে কিছু বলিতে পারিলাম नी । به دسسوهه বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পোষ্ট গ্রাজুয়েট বিভাগ । টাইমসের উল্লিখিত সংখ্যার প্রবন্ধটিতে কলিকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পোষ্টগ্রাজুয়েট বিভাগ সম্বন্ধে লেখা হইয়াছে – “...... These truths, we are sure, are not denied by men of position and influence who severely criticize the working of the post-graduate department..... But their complaint is that under his [Sir Asutosh Mookeriee's dominating influence the Senate has allowed an imperium in imperio to be built up, and to be an excessive drain upon the University resources, so that it cripples the ordinary work. They also hold that the aggrandisement of the department has become an obsession with its distinguished head ( i. e. Sir Asutosh ), and that a Geddes axe should be applied to its administration. “The farewell speech of Lord Řonaldshay, while studiously judicious in tone, shows that these criticisms are not altogether baseless. He admitted that in a poor country there are obvious limits to the extent to which post-graduate studies can reasonably be financed by public funds......He suggested for the consideration of the Senate the question whether it is bound to provide post-graduate teaching in every subject in which it is prepared to examine and confer awards, or whether, following the precedent set by such Universities as Oxford in this country, it should not expect students of very special subjects to make their own arrangements for the greater part of their studies.” (P. 188) গৃহশিক্ষক ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পরীক্ষক পাটনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে নিয়ম আছে, “No person who takes pupils privately in any subject or subjects shall be eligible for appointment as a member of the Board of Examiners in that subject or those subjects, or as a paper-setter or Head Examiner in the Examination for which he has prepared pupils privately.” কলিকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এরূপ কোন নিয়ম আছে কি ? থাকিলে, কেহ তাহা আমাদিগকে পাঠাইয়া দিলে ছাপিব। পরীক্ষক-সমিতি প্রশ্নকৰ্ত্তা নির্বাচন ও প্রশ্নপত্র আবখকমত সংশোধন-পরিবর্তন করেন। তাহারা এই প্রকারে পরীক্ষা আরম্ভ হইবার অনেক পূৰ্ব্বে প্রশ্নগুলি
